Motion Capture and
Performance Capture

Brittany Gallasch's MoCap Journey

Brittany Gallasch's journey with motion capture began during her training at Flinders Drama Centre in 2021. She had the opportunity work with 'Rising Sun Pictures' multiple times, gaining valuable performance experience in the field.

Through the ‘Elevate mentorship’ program facilitated by Helpmann Academy, Britt received guidance from Motion Capture specialist Paul William Mawhinney, who taught her the fundamentals of mocap acting. Together, they collaborated on a film where Britt portrayed various digital characters, expanding her skills and range as a mocap actor.

In 2023, Britt won the Neil Curnow Award, which supports an emerging artist to undertake further study or an internship at a recognised institution. This accolade allowed her to travel to London to undergo further mocap training with Gareth Taylor from ‘The Mocap Vaults’ and Ace Ruele from ‘Creature Bionics’. The Neil Curnow is presented by the Helpmann Academy in partnership with the Independent Arts Foundation.

Driven by her desire to share motion capture in Australia, Brittany is currently pursuing a Masters in Virtual Production at Flinders University. Through this program, she aims to acquire the skills necessary to create her own mocap content and contribute to the growth of the industry in her home city.
